Sixteen Mile Branch, Oakville Library
-

Objectives
The Town of Oakville developed the new Sixteen Mile Branch as part of the expanded Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, a major community hub that also includes a new community centre and four-pad arena. The library branch over 18,000 square feet was designed to offer flexible work, study, and gathering spaces, creative studios, children's and teen areas, and public computer and Wi-Fi access. Space Concepts was engaged to supply and install the library shelving system for the new branch, with a design that needed to support library media storage while complementing the architectural finishes of the new space.

Solutions
Space Concepts supplied and installed Montel AetnaStak® cantilever library shelving throughout the branch. AetnaStak's welded-frame construction and reconfigurable design allowed the shelving to be tailored to the library's collection needs while meeting long-term flexibility requirements. To align with the branch's interior design, the shelving was finished with custom veneer end panels, integrating the storage system visually with the surrounding millwork and furnishings.

Conclusion
The new Sixteen Mile Branch opened to the public on March 31, 2026, with a community opening celebration held May 30, 2026. The branch now provides Oakville residents with expanded access to the library's print and media collections in a modern, welcoming space. Space Concepts' shelving installation supports the branch's day-to-day operations and collection growth as part of this new community landmark.
